National Videogame Museum Offers Spring Break Stem Camps

WHO: The National Videogame Museum has partnered with two organizations to bring STEM-related camps for children to the museum during spring break.

WHAT: Workshop: STEM Coding Robotics sponsored by Coding Fun 4STEM

Dates: March 7 (Three sessions: 9 a.m. to noon; 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

March 10 (Three sessions: 9 a.m. to noon; 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

About: Want to code your own video games and program robots for missions like dance moves and mazes? Whether you are new to coding or have some experience, this camp is a fun way to learn coding or take it to the next level. You will learn to program the latest video games using MIT Scratch and other tools. Children are placed in beginner and intermediate teams based on age and skill. Ages 7 – 13; $35 per child for half-day camps; $65 for the full-day camps. Bring sack lunch if registration for the all-day camp.)

Workshop: Minecraft Engineering sponsored by Play-Well TEKnologies

Dates: March 8 and March 9 (10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)

About: Bring Minecraft to life using tens of thousands of LEGO®! Whether you are new to Minecraft and LEGO or a seasoned veteran, you’ll be hooked on the endless creative possibilities.

Ages 5–7; $35 per child.

Workshop: Minecraft Master Engineering sponsored by Play-Well TEKnologies

Dates: March 8 and March 9 (1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.)

About: Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO®! Build a motorized walking Creeper, a terrifying Ghast, and a motorized Minecart! This project-based camp, designed by Play-Well instructors, combines the basic format of our core engineering-themed programs based on the world of Minecraft. Students will explore real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while building their favorite Minecraft objects. Students will have a blast, even without any prior experience with Minecraft or LEGO.

Ages 7 – 13; $35 per child.
