Do chocolate Easter crosses and Chocolate fish with JESUS molded into it seem a little blasphemous?

I know you can find chocolate dreidels around Hanukkah time but a dreidel is a toy. A cross carries a lot more symbolism or at least it should. I know crosses aren't treated with much reverence these days. I see crosses on flip flops and bedazzled on to just about any piece of clothing but still, eating or half eating and throwing away what should be a very meaningful symbol of your faith seems less than respectful and odd.

I'm a little disappointed. 90+ views and no one has any thoughts on the use of such an important Christian symbol being used as an edible source of monetary profit.
I've lost my religion but I still see why a Christian would be uncomfortable with this.
If you think it would be cool with Jesus please say why it would be.

The cross used in Christianity was originally a pagan symbol, so they don't treat it with as much reverence unless there's a body attached to it.

I heard the chocolate easter bunnies are hollow to represent god's promises.

I was reading a similar discussion about chocolate crosses and someone pointed out without Jesus it's just an ornament. Someone else countered with, " ... no one is more sacrilegious about christianity than christians".
My Christian mom and sisters are okay with them but can see why I would think it's odd.

I read in a FOL forum that this forum was ruined by non-believers. Shame on us for ruining Philosophy and Theology with our input.

You shallow, weak-minded infidels really are something else. I can't imagine the thought of thinking everything was an accident. Just a big ole Whoops..... all this. On this planet, the other planets, the moons, the stars, gravity, etc. Whoops. The fact that man+woman=reproduction.... magical.

There are plenty of sources that explain those things very plainly. Take half the time you look at porn and read up on that stuff instead. And the parts that we can't explain yet, you can rest assured isn't the imaginary friend found in some book used to keep superstitious and illiterate masses under control.

We have had a long running debate in my family about whether or not Christians should be using a cross.

                  For example ...2nd Commandment
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: ...' Exod 20: 4-6.

The "graven image" could mean that crosses are a violation of the second commandment and also the Christian fish which also falls under the "water under the earth" part as well as "graven image."

That "heaven above" part and "graven image" does rule out any likeness of Jesus.

If you have ever been to a Catholic Church they bow to a Cross often with Jesus likeness on it before entering the pew.

So if you have a cross with Jesus on it you might in trouble. The fish image is a specific not to do.. but its on everyones car.

Now to make it all candy... I guess as long as it's chocolate.

Faith is faith, but sometimes it seems like church was made for profit.
