When I read these mail threads, I cringe. While mail isn't necessary for a lot of things these days, it is really bad when it gets screwed up.
We have a fantastic mail carrier (in McKinney). We maybe get one misdirected piece of mail every couple of years. Nothing seems to go missing. He brings stuff to our door and actually rings the doorbell, unlike UPS and FedEx, who apparently just chuck packages towards the porch from the truck and then drive onward.
One thing I have noticed, and people should really take note of this if they drop mail off at the post office: If you drop your mail in the drive-up boxes, be sure to put your hand all the way into the slot and chuck your mail in. Do not just slide it into the slot and drive off. Every time I go to the post office drive-up boxes, I put my hand in and close to 100% of the time I could pull out a handful of mail if I were so inclined. Instead, I reach in and push all the reachable mail into the box so it is out of reach.
I had a few greeting cards go missing after dropping them in the drive-up boxes at the main McKinney post office many years ago. They didn't contain gift cards, but I thought it was odd that the greeting cards were the only thing missing in the 10 years we have lived in McKinney.
Mike, can't you for once stop talking about hamburgers? ...I want to talk about me...
