No, the issue isn't just that he was for the ACC. The issue is that he tried to block a revote on the bond. And then had the nerve to scold the other council members for doing the right thing and sending it back to the people. That was over the top bad.

If he had gone out campaigning to save the ACC, knocking on doors, waving signs on street corners, I wouldn't have agreed with him, but I would have respected him. His actions in that council meeting caused me to lose all respect for him.

I actually, 100% disagree with you. He was awesome, and certainly not a patsy. I watched this and it solidifies the kind of leaders we need in this city. A couple of things i took from this.

1. It was a surprise agenda item, and was not brought up in advance. Bob was taken back that this came up at the last minute agenda item, and he was scheduled to be out of town that day. Long in advance of this agenda item.
2. Any discussion like this should be planned in advance and have the full council briefed and in attendance. The council had agreed to this, but JOHNSON reneged on this agreement. Shame on him. Ambush politics were in place.
3. He has a strong belief in Vision, integrity, and meeting our commitments. Partnership is not just a word, but a strong belief. He wants to honor the voters, the partners, and the donors, by keeping our word, just like the job of the council is to enact the will of the people.

4. He was really concerned, that if council put it on the ballot and it passed, then citizens/property owners could repetition in Sept 2012 and stop it. HE SUPPORTed the rights of the property owners to petition for a vote. I am in agreement with him. He does not think the COUNCIL should of asked for a revote of what VOTERS already decided, but that the citizens should take action. Council should ENACT The will of the voters, and let citizens petitions change what previous voters decided.. Not the council.

I voted for Bob Allen today. He has my respect, even when I disagree with him..

I reviewed all 6 hours of it, Bob is a stand up guy and is not afraid of taking on his fellow councilman if they are taking libertties that they shouldnt

He believes in the voters voice, but once spoken is there to execute on the wishes.

He has great vision for this city, both I the role ofthe city and economic development..
