And I would not shop again at that Seattle market if I received that much attitude from the vendors.

I shop at Kroger, Albertson's Tom Thumb, and Whole Foods. And there are "jerks" and "snobs" at every single store, including my favorite, those who completely ignore the crosswalks.

I shop at Whole Foods to purchase the organic strawberries, grass fed ground beef, hormone free milk, and some of their prepared soups, as well as other seasonal items. The organic peaches, grown in Texas, I bought last week were divine.

One thing I do appreciate about Whole Foods is they buy local, in season, produce.

I taste a huge difference in the organic strawberries, blueberries, and the grass fed beef as well as some of the other organic produce items.

Shopping at Whole foods can be Whole Paycheck quite easily. However, if you stick to your gameplan, you can eat healthy and organic by also weaving in the other groceries.

Depends on what you want and what you feel is important.

We are quite blessed in the US to have the abundance of choices for our groceries.

It can be quite expensive, as organic crops aren't generally subsidized by the government like many conventional crops are. Also, some are grown by small farming operations. I normally buy the organic basket (usually every week) from Bountiful Baskets. Organic is a $10 "upgrade" over the conventional basket and I find that it works out to be much cheaper than organic in the grocery store. I've never been accused of being smug and self righteous, and sure hope I'm not. I have, however, seen smug, self righteous jerks who eat "conventional" produce as well as some who eat "organic," so I'm not putting much stock into the NBC report. I like to get to know people on a person-by-person basis, not as whole subsets of society. It works out better that way, for me.

Whole foods is not as wonderful for the growers as one would think. They were all the time telling my brother who sold to them they would buy at one price, then he would get there the next day and they would tell him that they were really sorry, but they just got in a shipment and they could only offer him a lower stated price. They did this ALL the time.

I do shop there for some items, but not everything. I order some organic online, it's a bit cheaper. I too wonder what the difference is in health benefits. I know the taste for the most part is better. I used to think that Sprouts was selling mostly organic food, then I realized it's not, well that is int eh vegetable area.

I think we are a good 15 years or so behind other parts of the world on Organic Food. I changed to Organic,free range eggs as the pictures of 100000 chickens in a hut distressed me. The problem we have, the more people want Organic the harder it becomes. There is 0.00% chance of all eggs becoming Organic/ Free Range.

I have certain items I ALWAYS buy organic, such as milk, eggs, and most (not all) fruits and veggies. I don't know very many people that eat ALL organic diets, but I know many, many people just like me, that choose to buy certain items organically. I wouldn't label any of those people, nor myself, self- righteous snobs.....as for Whole Foods, where people decide to grocery shop is really irrelevant. Not everyone is on a tight budget, so the Whole Paycheck comment is kind of pointless...if you can't afford to shop there, then just don't shop there. I can see why people would choose to buy groceries there as it is a really enjoyable store to shop, especially if you are a "foodie" (I personally prefer Central Market tho)
