Desiring a more conveniently located liquor store is not the problem. It's not what I'm refering to at all. That's just more of your emotionalist response. I'm referring to the one who continually cries loudest and most often about not having a liquor store or who is continually complaing because they can't drink at a bar in Frisco at 2am. Those are the ones who either have or have a greater potential for developing a drinking problem. Does that describe you? If not, then don't worry about it.

No, this country is ultimately governed by God. The decsions we make will, however, always have consequences either good or bad.

Why don't you compile a list of facts that prove all the benefits of having liquor stores in Frisco. Also prove how it helps citizens develop and grow into responsible society. Then maybe I'd have something to consider other than "my own imagination".

I too believe that a liquor store inside the City limits of Frisco will indeed bring an undesirable element into this city, who, based on the last Census, had something like 45,000 school-age children living here, or roughly 1/3 of the total population. The City doesn't need businesses like these here, and the citizens don't either - just drive an extra 5 minutes to Little Elm.

It's not a Bible versus Constitution issue. It's just common sense - if you don't believe that a liquor store brings in an undesirable element, then you obviously have not spent much time "people watching" at a liquor store.

I'd be interested in hearing you specifically define and describe the "undesireable" element to which you refer?

Just because there is a "City Limit" doens't stop anybody from coming to Frisco. Your "undesireable" element could live in Prosper, Celina, etc, and pass through here every day. They could be shopping at our stores already, they could be coming to the Rough Rider games, or live in Plano and shop at the Mall....

Its ridiculous to think that a liquor store, all by itself, is going to suddenly turn Frisco into the slums of North Texas.

It simply becomes a congregation point - a higher concentration of them in a single location. Plus, regardless of viewpoint, the reality is that there is a commonly believed/accepted negative stigma on these sorts of businesses, just like there is on strip clubs and other SOBs, casinos, etc. Why would a City want to bring anything into it with such a widespread negative stigma attached to it?

Oh brother ... this has nothing to do with race, socioeconomic status, or whatever other discriminatory or other related issue you are trying to bring into it. I've intentionally spoken in generalities because that's exactly the point - generally speaking, these sorts of places bring with them a negative image/environment because of the products that they sell. "Them" is anyone who abuses alcohol and/or who behaves irresponsibly or recklessly when consuming it - pretty straightforward.

I get it that people are always going to find a way, but why dangle it in front of their face, like holding a piece of red meat out for a lion? We don't allow fireworks to be sold in Frisco, but we still have City-sponsored firework shows.
