New PCE neighbor to use parks, not building a park, and not subject to PID

By the way....Just a little info.....The 3 parks, the trails, and pretty much the majority of "community' land in PCE falls under the PID category and is owned by the city. We can not touch this property to improve upon it without first submitting info., etc. to the city and getting approval. This includes adding any greenery. All of this lands is considered public. The only part that really is "ours" is the immediate pool area. Much of this land(not talking about the parks) that is under the PID and owned by the city it typical land that is owned by the "community" in pretty much all other subdivisions.

I can get past paying the $2500 dollars for the parks. I have issue with them being in terrible condition as others have mentioned. You would think they could be better maintained esp. since ultimately the "funds" for these parks came from the homeowners and not the general Frisco pop. as are the other parks such as Warren, etc.

Welcome to the recession. In tough economic times the Parks Dept. is at the top of list for budget reductions

So true. Ours is on a every other week mowing schedule. By the time that second week comes along, things look pretty unkept. The P&R Department is charged with keeping up all the street medians too, so with the new streets and medians to care for you would think their staff would increase to keep up with it all, but not with the current economy.

and yet somehow their budget increased this year and they added 4 more people to the Parks and Median Maintenance team...

frankly the economy isn't the issue, they are going to build a dog park so apparently we have discretionary funds to do that, that could be used to provide P&R with staff if they truly are short staffed.

DP construction funds are coming from the last of the bond sale that was done for Parks improvement years ago. As I understand it those bind funds can't be used for general operating expenses.

That said, I think they could be put to better use.

Is it the last of the General Park Improvement bonds? I thought all of that was used up and the only thing remaining was the Youth Activity Center that still hasn't been funded. I've lost track of that since leaving the board.
