Need help! Need Ideas for Spring Break -- don't want to travel more than 8 hrs. - Frisco-Online Forums

I need some ideas... what good places are there for families within an 8 hour car drive? I don't want to do San Antonio with the rest of the Spring Breakers.

Fossil Rim is fun and you can camp or rent a cabin near the park. Then you can canoe down the river and visit Dinosaur State Park. I don't know that you could spend a week there but a few days might be fun.

If you want to do Glen Rose or Fossil Rim you could stay at Rough Creek Lodge . .

Then there is Corpus or Galveston. I like Galveston at spring break because you have the Strand, the aquarium, Kemah, an indoor water park, putt putt golf, you can ride the ferry. There is some stuff you can do to keep yourself busy or just spend time at the beach.

You could do Beavers Bend in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. My sister went with her kids and they had a great time. Fishing, lake activities, just being in nature and a lot of the cabins have hot tubs. Might be hard to book now, but you could check it out.

My son is not in FISD, but I think we have the same spring break. March 14-18th.

Take them to search for diamonds in Arkansas....let them play in the dirt and the mud...and potentially find diamonds.

We went to Branson for spring break a few years back. It was a bit cold, but Silver Dollar City was a lot of fun, rode the Ducks, went to the Titanic Museum and tried to hit the fun campy kind of things around town. I think it was about a 6 hour drive.

We went to Glen Rose for a 2 night trip over Spring Break, a few years ago, and had a good time. The boys loved it and it was a nice, close drive.

We have also gone to Hot Springs, Arkansas and Branson, MO - but in the summer - not over spring break. We enjoyed both but I'm not sure how the weather would be in the middle of March.
