Summer - FT parents of school aged kids

There's another thread about summer camps but most of the suggestions and other things I've found are only 1/2 day. What do full-time working parents do with their school aged kids during the summer?

I would love to be able to send my girls(6 & 4) to some of the summer camps, but I can't work 1/2 days all summer. There have to be other FT working parents out there in the same situation.

If your 4 year old will be 5 by summer - YMCA has great camps... my DD went to KIOWA and loved it. drop off is 7:15 and pick up is 6:30 - but she does have to be 5.

ck out kids r kids at main/teel. their summer program for last summer was a BLAST!!! they did activities (i THINK) twice a week ~ they went to the planetorium, movies, gattitown, etc. our DS went there until he started kinder this past august, and i plan to enroll him again for the summer so that he can do these activities cause he loved it SOOOOO much there!

Mine just went to either regular daycare up until age 10 and two summers he went to the church's full day program for only school age kids (I think the 4 year old would be too young) and they went on field trips, went swimming. That program isn't operating anymore though. Most kids in the area switched to the rec center's full day program - same idea - field trips and swimming and gym time. I think the YMCA program is similar.

At 6 and 4 I would probably just do regular daycare at one of the area daycares. Nothing special. I'm not a huge fan of preschoolers on field trips.
