I do not have a warped perception of you, I call it as I see it. You dig a lot of holes here on FOL. Your online persona is far from charming. What you are like in real life may or may not be another story.

You really need to place the "comprehension" jab ball back on the rack, as you have used so much on this forum and it just falls flat.

"Perfect parent" jab falls flat too. There are not perfect parents. But, there are effective and diligent parents who set their kids up for a better chance of attaining success in life.

The parents here in this case, most likely not.

I remember hearing it once in a great while. That's all I needed to stay in line.

Looking back, I wonder if they were actually paddling some kid or just making the noise to remind us that it could happen.


On the whole discipline vs. love thing, sometimes they're one in the same. I love my kids very much. I discipline them as a teaching tool about how to be a better person.


Oh, and I have had to spank my three year old a few times. So far it's been after a warning, telling her to stop doing whatever or she'll be in trouble, etc. The key is to not do it when you're (rhymes with "dissed-off'). It's been about teaching her a consequence, not a stress reliever for me.

I saw this on The Today show this morning. That poor lady. It is beyond horrible that these kids ever, in any way, thought it was okay to do this. Apparently it wasn't just the one time either. I believe Matt Lauer said there were 3 videos on youtube. They obviously have no respect for their elders.

It will interesting to find out if these kids or their parents take any responsibility for their actions.

This skewed and warped perception absolutely does effect your comprehension with the substance of my posts in this thread. It be best if you just leave it at that because it is quite obvious you are questioning sound reason.

If there are no perfect parents (and there aren't), then you shouldn't be so closed minded to the things I suggested. Even the most effective and diligent parents who set their kids up for a better chance of attaining success in life can and sometimes do fail. Just like the most ineffective parent can produce what many call a successful grownup.

And for stating that, you and your little friend (bizguy) called it stupid... That is evidence your hatred of me skews your sensibility. You should work on that son.

I'm not sure the matter of physical discipline vs another form makes a difference. Both can be effective and that is up to each parent/family to decide. In a case like this it is apparent neither form is being used at home. I like the idea someone mentioned of suspending them from the bus. That is exactly what you would do if someone acted like this at school. All of a sudden the lazy parents will take action because it puts it back on them - they now have to put time or effort in getting their kid to school.

Now, the fact that these kids are being raised with no sense of respect for adults or even compassion for other human beings is just sad and something I'm not sure any immediate punishment is going to fix. That takes true parents who give a crap about the kind of person they are raising. Seriously, I just don't get it - who takes pleasure and finds it fun to make someone else hurt? So sad.

Of all the suggestions for punishment, this one probably describes my style of parenting best. Loss of bus privileges was a good suggestion as well. Now IMO, the school and parents should all be a part of this Come to Jesus meeting, the school implement their punishment of loss of bus privileges and the parents mandate the Honey Do policy and possibly a paddling. Middle school is a little old (IMO) to still be spanking but I would definitely be getting in my kids face about their behavior. I would only do a semester of bus privileges on the condition that there would be a trial period for them to show that they learned their lesson and knew how to behave on the bus and with other people, young and old.

It seems like the movement to do away with spanking was interpreted as a move to remove discipline entirely. The whole aspect of "feel good" parenting is for the birds and does children and those around them no favors at all. But, that's probably a whole different thread. LOL

Agree with the bus priviledges being taken away because now the parents will be responsible for transportation.

I also believe some sort of community service is in order, changing sheets and doing laundry at a hospital, working at local refuse center sorting garbage, for example, tough work for these kids.
