Hermansen Land Development Donates Gaming Fun Center to Children’s Medical Center at Legacy
Fundraising efforts during "Holidays Under the Stars" at The Shops at Starwood make donation possible
Monica and Kirk Hermansen, owner and founder of award-winning The Shops at Starwood in Frisco, joined members of Children's Medical Center at Legacy on Friday, August 7, to reveal a specialty Nintendo Wii Fun Center. The Fun Center will reside in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Medical Center at Legacy so that children can enjoy it while receiving treatments and make their time at Children's more enjoyable. The $5,000 Fun Center was made possible by fundraising efforts during "Holidays Under the Stars" at The Shops at Starwood.
The Hermansens worked with Children Medical Center at Legacy to indentify an opportunity to bring light to the patients. Children’s coordinated with the Starlight Children's Foundation, an organization that brings together health, technology and entertainment experts to create programs that educate, entertain and inspire seriously ill children.
Throughout the year, giving continues at The Shops at Starwood. There is a signature fountain that resides in the center of the promenade where guests can toss in coins that are collected regularly and donated to Children’s Medical Center at Legacy Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in honor of children with neuroblastoma, a rare brain cancer.
