Greatbatch to Establish New Global Headquarters
Executive Leadership Move to Frisco, Texas. Will Enhance Company’s Growth and Medical Device Strategies
May 24, 2012 -- Frisco, TX – Joined by Mayor Maher Maso and the leadership of the Frisco Economic Development Corporation, Greatbatch, Inc. today announced it will establish a new global headquarters in Frisco, Texas, as part of the company’s continued approach to advance its medical device strategy.
Over the past several years, Greatbatch’s footprint has been expanding and has grown to more than 20 locations worldwide and 3500 associates as the Company has added global locations through targeted acquisitions. Relocating its global headquarters will put Greatbatch at the center of a vibrant medical device community with a strong business climate, as well as offer convenient access to an international airport that will more readily connect the company to its global locations and customers.
“Frisco, Texas, offers us proximity to an established medical device cluster, surrounded by a business community that includes leading medical technology firms, as well as strong access to talent and key industry opinion leaders,” said Thomas J. Hook, President and CEO of Greatbatch, Inc. “As we take the next step in our strategic evolution, we are confident that our relocation to the Dallas-Ft. Worth area will help us achieve greater growth.”
“Greatbatch is the kind of innovative company that we want to attract to Frisco. As we continue to grow, Greatbatch is the perfect complement to our investment in the North Texas Enterprise Center (NTEC) and the existing medical device industry in the Dallas-Fort Worth area,” said Maher Maso, Mayor of Frisco. “As one of the fastest growing cities in the country, with more and more corporations calling Frisco home, we are excited to welcome Greatbatch to our community and look forward to a long-lasting partnership.”
“I’m pleased Greatbatch has chosen Frisco as the location of its new global headquarters, adding to the growing list of companies that have found that Texas’ economic climate is a perfect fit for their future thanks to our low taxes, reasonable and predictable regulations, fair legal system and skilled workforce,” Texas Gov. Rick Perry said. “This announcement is great news for North Texas and the Lone Star State, and I wish the company continued success.”
“The Greatbatch relocation is a great addition to the Frisco community,” said Jim Gandy, President of Frisco Economic Development Corporation (FEDC). “The company’s profile is in line with one of the city’s target industries for development. We see this as an opportunity for Greatbatch to grow its business alongside our city, noted for its collaborative business environment.”
The first phase of the headquarters move will begin this summer with the relocation of some members of the Greatbatch Executive Leadership Team to the Frisco area. Future phases will be considered as business needs warrant.
“As a rapidly-growing medical device company, we look forward to quickly becoming an active member of the community and helping it thrive through the addition of further innovation and talent,” concluded Hook.
