Frisco To Spray For Mosquitoes In Southwest Area Of City Friday, Aug. 10; Practice ‘Four Ds’

(August 9, 2012) The City of Frisco will spray for mosquitoes in an area on the city’s southwest side Friday night, August 10 at 10 p.m. through Saturday morning, August 11 at 6 a.m. The general area to be ‘sprayed’ is bordered by Stewart Creek, the railroad tracks, West Crescent Way and
Trailside Drive. View a map of the area to be sprayed.

The City of Frisco’s WNV Response Plan calls for spraying once a case is confirmed by local health department authorities. On Tuesday, Denton County confirmed another case of West Nile Virus (WNV), bringing the total of confirmed cases in Frisco to three. Collin County confirmed one of the three Frisco cases.

Frisco reminds residents to practice ‘The Four D’s’, which are precautionary measures promoted by the Texas Department of State Health Services:

- DRAIN all standing water;

- DRESS in light-colored, long sleeve clothing when outdoors;

- DEET…Use mosquito repellants that contain Deet;

- DUSK OR DAWN… Mosquitoes are most active during dusk and dawn. Avoid outdoor activities during these hours, when possible. Otherwise, make sure you use repellant containing DEET when outdoors during these times.
