Frisco Square announces Texas Instruments Jazz Band at Music in the Square
Frisco, TEXAS (June 5, 2012) – Frisco Square announces the Texas Instruments Jazz Band this Friday, June 8th as they kick off Music in the Square a summer event held on Simpson Plaza. The Texas Instruments Jazz Band is a full 18-piece big band organized through the Texans Association of Texas Instruments. The group formed in the summer of 1986, sparked by an ad placed in a TI company newspaper. The band rehearses at the Collin College in Plano and is under the direction of Kris Berg, the Director of Jazz Studies at the college.
Texas Instruments Jazz Band has just returned from the Cancun Jazz Festival and is "honored to the be the opening performance of Music in the Square concert series. We'll be performing a wide variety of music from classic standards to modern arrangements", said Paul Westbrook from the Texas Instruments Jazz Band.
Music in the Square is a free event and will feature a unique line-up of talented musicians every Friday night, from 7:30-9:30pm, in June and July starting June 8, 2012. Bring friends and family, grab a picnic, some blankets or chairs and enjoy listening to a variety of musicians as the sun sets. Each Friday will feature a different genre of music, from country, rock, bluegrass, pop and some of the area's best singer/songwriters.
