The American Legion celebrates its 98th birthday on March 15-17, 2017 while the Frisco American Legion Peter J. Courcy Post 178 celebrates its 3rd birthday on March 22, 2017.
The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.
Each year, Legion posts across the country hold events – public, private or both – to commemorate this anniversary. In Frisco, The American Legion and Post 178 will be recognized by the Frisco City Council on March 13th. Post 178 will continue the celebration with a birthday event with its members on Thursday March 22 at the Frisco Senior Center. Also, Frisco Post 178 will celebrate at its membership meeting on March 16th (also at the Frisco Senior Center.
