Student Takes Grand Prize at Regional Science Fair

Frisco ISD students earned 17 top-4 awards, plus 40 honorable mentions and 14 special awards at the Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair last weekend in Fair Park.

Carter Smith, a seventh grade student from Pearson Middle School, earned a Grand Prize in the Junior Division for Life Sciences. The distinction – earned by only four middle school students at the entire fair – designates his project as one of the best out of all the first place winners in all science categories.

A total of 225 Frisco ISD students presented 187 projects during the competition, which had more than 1,000 entries.

Of those, 17 FISD students will advance to the Texas State Science and Engineering Fair in San Antonio on April 1. They won five 1st place awards, five 2nd place awards, five 3rd place awards and two 4th place awards.

Frisco ISD is extremely proud of the hard work students put into their projects, as well as the exceptional support they received from their teachers on campus.
