Thank You, Board of Trustees!

January is School Board Recognition Month and Frisco ISD joins school districts across the state in thanking these local leaders for their dedication and willingness to serve as advocates for our children and public schools.

As elected officials, they are the voice of our community, serving first and foremost in the best interest of all FISD students and families.

“We make a special effort to say thank you to our Board members during the month of January, but we hope they feel appreciated for their work all year long,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeremy Lyon. “They care deeply about each and every student and work tirelessly with staff to provide the best possible learning environment for our students.”

Collectively, they oversee an annual budget of $471 million, more than 56,000 students, nearly 7,000 employees and 68 campuses.

“The Board serves as a crucial link between the community and classroom,” Lyon said. “We hope the community will help us thank these dedicated volunteers for their efforts to make a difference for our students now and in the future.”

Students, parents and staff are invited to a reception honoring School Board members before the next regular Board meeting on Monday, January 9. The event will begin at 5 p.m. in the Administration Building lobby, 5515 Ohio Drive in Frisco. It will include light refreshments and performances by FISD students.

Local businesses, organizations and others are encouraged to join in thanking School Board members for their service during the month of January.

At its regular meeting on January 3, the Frisco City Council proclaimed January 2017 as School Board Recognition Month in Frisco.

Frisco Mayor Maher Maso thanked the Board for their partnership and credited trustees and staff for their success in making Frisco ISD a top-notch school district.

“We are very proud of that,” Maso said. “We use that. We’re not shy about using how great our educational system is. We get a lot of companies here because of it and that’s all due to your work.”

In expressing the Board’s gratitude for the recognition, Board President Anne McCausland thanked the City Council and City staff for their continued support.

“We certainly would not be the outstanding district that we are without the assistance and support that we get and that we need in order to keep up with the fast growth of our school district,” she said. “We are very much appreciative.”
