March 13, 2017 – Light up the night and a student’s future at the second annual Cougar Run 5K and Fun Run, starting at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 1 on Collin College’s Preston Ridge Campus, featuring Olympic Gold Medalist and Collin Alum Carly Patterson as honorary chair.

Open to the public and organized as a family-friendly event, the run will begin at 7 p.m. and will continue into the early evening. Racers can expect lighted running paths, collectible running medals and more fun than you can shake a sneaker at.

“Whether taking part in our 5K or in the fun run, racers will have a unique experience as they walk or run through the night around Preston Ridge Campus,” Collin College Foundation Board Chair Bill Cox said.  “The Cougar Run is a prelude to our Founders Day, so what better way to salute more than three generations of shining stars than with a glow run?”

Participants will enjoy visits with the Collin College mascot, numerous vendor booths with unique items and free parking.

Money raised at the Cougar Run will benefit the Collin Alumni Scholarship Fund. The Collin College Foundation, which is organizing the Cougar Run along with Frisco Running Co., provides scholarships to students each year.

“To have such an amazing college right here in my backyard, it was awesome to be able to enroll and attend here. I think that everybody who wants to get a college degree and wants to attend college should absolutely have that opportunity whether their financial situation allows it or not,” Patterson said.
