Volunteers Needed for ISM, Business Professionals Sought

In School News by admin

Frisco ISD seeks volunteers to offer professional advice to nearly 400 high school juniors and seniors involved in the Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) program.  This is a great opportunity to mentor a young person who will enter the workforce in a few short years.

ISM is designed to help students explore their interests and prepare for the future. Over the course of the school year, students conduct research interviews, work with a mentor in a chosen career field and formally present what they have learned.

Volunteers are needed to conduct mock interviews, evaluate student resumes and help students build networking skills at our kick off ISM Business Symposium event.

The event will be held in two sessions on Wednesday, October 4 at Independence High School, 10555 Independence Parkway.  The morning session will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. and will feature students from east-side high schools, including Centennial, Heritage, Independence and Liberty. The afternoon session will take place from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and will feature students from west-side high schools including Frisco, Lone Star, Reedy and Wakeland.

Business professionals and other adults may volunteer at one or both sessions. Lunch will be on your own during the break between sessions. We will have water and snacks available during the sessions.
