FRISCO – FC Dallas returns to Frisco this weekend to take on the club from the Rockies. Dallas (9-5-7) has lost its last two matches, with the latest being a 3-1 defeat on the road at the Philadelphia Union. The Colorado Rapids (6-12-3) come to town on the heels of a 2-2 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps over the weekend. FC Dallas and Colorado last matched up in U.S. Open Cup play for a 3-1 Dallas win on June 27.
Cellar Dweller, Colorado
The Rapids enter Saturday’s match as the last place team in the Western Conference. Colorado has average just a single point per match in 21 MLS matches played. Only D.C. United (0.83) and Minnesota United (0.96) are averaging less points per match. They have struggled on the road this season with an 0-8-1 road record. To add to it all, they can hardly score goals either. The Rapids sport a -9 goal difference and have scored just 22 goals – the second lowest total in MLS. It has been a struggle.
Last Time Out
(4-4-2) Tim Howard; Eric Miller, Axel Sjöberg, Jared Watts, Mike da Fonte; Marlon Hairston, Micheal Azira, Mohammed Saeid, Shkëlzen Gashi; Kevin Doyle, Dominique Badji.
Key to Three Points
These are two sides desperate for a win. FC Dallas has un-doubtly proven its quality as a team at times this season, but have hit a rut in recent results. Dallas has picked up just three points from its last three matches, all of which were against clubs below the playoff line in their conferences. FC Dallas can beat Colorado, but it will take a reset of recent results, and a clear mindset.
