Aug. 29-Sept. 4: Girl Power Night, Bark In The Park, $1 Beers, Football Giveaway


FRISCO, Texas (Aug. 28, 2017) – The regular season ends on a high with a final homestand chock full of special promotions and fun for the whole family, including State Fair NightCollege Night and a Throwback Jersey Series. The Frisco RoughRiders close out 2017 with seven games TuesdayMonday(Aug. 29-Sept. 4) at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

The RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, face the Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros) and Midland RockHounds (Oakland A’s) in back-to-back series, with first pitch for the first six nights at 7:05 p.m. and the season finale on Monday, Sept. 4 at 4:05 p.m.

The RoughRiders Foundation will be active throughout the homestand coordinating fundraising efforts for people affected by Hurricane Harveythrough the Red Cross. Visit to more information and to donate. Donations through the Red Cross are also welcome by texting HARVEY to 90999.

The homestand opener Aug. 29 is Taco Tuesday, with fans enjoying $2 tacos available all game long, along with select $3 beers and half-price margaritas from 6-8 p.m. Weiner Wednesday presented by Texas Chili Company is Aug. 30, with $1 hot dogs all game long.

Wednesday is also the third installment of Bark in the Park presented by Legacy Veterinary Hospital. Dogs and their owners can enjoy the game on the Kroger Lawn grass berm, with the first 500 dogs through the left field and center field gates receiving a free Riders-themed Frisbee. Admission for dogs is free with a ticket purchase. An in-game performance from the Frisbee group Dare Devil Dogs is also on tap.

Thirsty Thursday is Aug. 31, with fans enjoying $1 domestic draft beers, $2 craft and import beers, $3 Stella Rosa wine and $1 Dr Pepper products from 6-8 p.m. The Choctaw Lazy River Pool Party is the same night, and for just $39 fans can float the river and enjoy an all-you-can-eat menu featuring hot dogs, brats, peanuts, chips and Dr Pepper products.

Friday, Sept. 1 is State Fair Night, and fans will get a taste – literally – of everything that makes a state fair great. The Riders will be celebrating with rides, midway games and fried foods galore throughout Dr Pepper Ballpark from state fair fry king Abel Gonzales Jr., a five-time winner of the Big Tex Choice Award. There’s also a CoServ Flashlight Fan Giveaway for the first 1,500 fans through the gates. Post-Game Fireworks are presented by Weir’s Furniture, as fans are invited onto the field after the game to enjoy the aerial show.

College Night follows on Saturday, Sept. 2, with festivities and in-game competitions celebrating nine local universities with an inning dedicated to each. Relive your college days with $1 beer specials for Natural LightBusch Light and Keystone Light all game. There’s also a RoughRiders Football Giveaway presented by Dr Pepper for the first 1,000 fans at Dr Pepper Ballpark, with gates opening early at 5 p.m. for fans to watch college football in Bull Moose Saloon. The Post-Game Party is back in Bull Moose Saloon for RoughRiders Karaoke with special guests.

Girl Power Night on Sunday, Sept. 3 is a celebration of females from all walks of life. In-game testimonials from role models such as Basketball Hall of Famer and Sacramento Kings assistant Nancy Lieberman, Texas Rangers broadcaster Emily Jones and FC Dallas vice president Gina Miller are part of the evening. Ivy Awino, better known as Poison Ivy, will serve as the ballpark DJ and FOX Sports Southwest host/reporter Erin Hartigan is the guest public address announcer.

It’s also Kids Sunday Funday, with kids and their parents/guardians welcome to play catch on the field up to 35 minutes prior to first pitch. Fans can enjoy $1 Mayfield ice cream sandwiches the entire game. Post-Game Fireworks are presented by Medical City Frisco.

The regular season finale on Sept. 4 is Kids Eat FREE Monday, as each youngster (12 & under) receives a complimentary voucher for a hot dog, chips and a Dr Pepper product or water. There’s a special Labor Day edition of the Choctaw Lazy River Pool Party, and for just $39 fans can float the river and enjoy an all-you-can-eat menu. Also, a Dr Pepper Ballpark Stadium Replica Giveaway is in store for the first 1,500 fans.

In addition, the RoughRiders and Midland RockHounds are teaming up for a special Throwback Jersey Series for the final three games (Sept. 2-4). The Riders are wearing powder blue uniforms inspired by the 1977 Texas Rangers throughout the series. The RockHounds (Oakland) will also honor their parent club with bright yellow uniforms from the same year on Saturday, Sept. 2.

The throwback jerseys worn by the Riders will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting Living for Zachary, a non-profit organization established to raise awareness of undiagnosed heart issues in teens. Fans can visit Section 114 to learn more, as well as download the DASH (Digital Auction Showdown) app on their smart phones to bid on the jerseys. (The easiest way to download DASH is to text “DASH” to 66866.) The auction is open to fans even if they are unable to attend the games in person.

About the Frisco RoughRiders

The Frisco RoughRiders are the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers and play their games at beautiful Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas. The team was founded in 2003 and has finished first among all Double-A franchises in attendance in each of the last 12 seasons (2005-2016).
